KansasFest 2003 roast lineup announced

Ken Gagne, the Master of Ceremonies of the KansasFest roast for the third year in a row, has announced the roster of roasters for this year’s event. The victim of honor is programmer Geoff Weiss, of Spectrum Internet Suite fame. Taking part in his brutal humiliation will be Richard Bennett-Forrest, author of the Marinetti TCP/IP package for the Apple IIGS (among other achievements); Cindy Adams, former Big Cheese of KansasFest; Ryan Suenaga, editor of Juiced.GS magazine; Max Jones, former editor of Juiced.GS magazine; and Eric Shepherd, Apple II programmer and owner of Syndicomm. Providing material from afar is Ewen Wannop, the author of the Spectrum telecommunications software for the Apple IIGS..

USB for the Apple II?

Jeri Ellsworth, the creator of the C-One configurable computer, is working on a design for a USB interface card for the Apple II. Mark Percival releases Type Away video typewriter for kids

Type Away is a program that will run on any Apple II, on any version of DOS or ProDOS 8, which provides a safe place for kids to pound on the keyboard and see what letters come up on the screen. Keypresses are rewarded with clicking sounds, and they can safely “type away” without breaking anything (at least, not in software).
