Hobby Cross Assembler 0.11 released

Anton Treuenfels has released version 0.11 of his Hobby Cross Assembler, a cross-assembler that assembles 6502, 65C02, 65802, and 65816 code on various other platforms. It supports all the typical assembler features (and then some), and is distributed as open source under the GPL license.

Ninjaforce releases lost Apple IIgs game demo

Ninjaforce posted a download of XAOH, a preview of what might have become a future side-scrolling game for the IIgs. They discovered it on an old hard drive image. Of course, “XAOH” is “Hoax” backward. Got some salt?

Applecrate parallel-processing Apple II system makes music

Michael J. Mahon’s Applecrate project, which is creating a parallel-processing system based on Apple II computers, now has the ability to synthesize eight voices of audio using a short Applesoft program and a DAC routine written in assembly language. An MP3 of one piece of music created by the system is available as a sample.

MESS adds Apple IIGS emulation

Version 0.94 of the Multiple Emulator Super System (MESS) has added Apple IIGS emulation. MESS emulates more than 150 console and early home computer systems. The open-source project is based on the MAME core.
