Vince Briel of Briel Computers is close to reproducing the rare Apple Cassette Interface (ACI), for the Apple 1. Vince is testing his third (and hopefully final) prototype and has announced the ACI should be available in early 2007. Pricing hasn’t been set as of yet, but the ACI is anticipated to sell for $79-$99 USD, and requires the Slot 1 Expander Adapter.

In related news, we’ve learned that Vince also has a multi-function card in the works that will feature a true programmable serial port, parallel port, EEPROM programmer, Mockingboard sound and optional SpeakJet voice chip all on a single board! Who would have imagined the Apple 1 could do all that?
