Mike G. writes “We have been maintaining our household files using Appleworks (first on a IIe and then on a Mac LC with a AIIe card). Alas, the LC has collapsed after 16yrs! Are there any file translators that can translate the Appleworks database files to either MAC or PC format to run on Excel or any other application? Thanks for your help.”
How about it? Does anyone have any advice for Mike? Post it here and help the guy out.

MacLinkPlus on the Mac can translate AppleWorks word processing and spreadsheet files into pretty much any other format.
The major issue may be getting the files off of older floppy disks, 5.25 or non-HFS 3.5.

Mike says his data is on 3.5 diskettes, and I’d have to assume they are ProDOS.
He could try opening the files on Deja IIx and exporting it to another format.
The company RetroFloppy may also be able to handle it for him.
