An overclocked 8MHz Apple IIc Plus seems visibly faster than an Apple //e equipped with an 8MHz ZipChip. I haven’t done any real testing, but the animation speed in games is obviously different when the machines are compared side by side. Is it because the Apple IIc Plus has an oscillator change, whereas the //e doesn’t? Do you know the answer? Drop us a line.
Update: Tony Diaz says the entire IIc Plus was designed to run at a faster speed, whereas the //e with a ZipChip, all its speedup is in the ZipChip’s cache. Makes perfect sense.
