Beyond the Scanlines, a YouTube series by Australian retrocomputing enthusiast Rob Caporetto (aka Hellfire64), has released a video overview of Bolo, an Apple II tank game written by Jim Lane and published by Synergistic Software in 1982.

In the ten-minute video, Rob covers the game’s goals and challenges, the distinct experiences of playing with the keyboard compared to a joystick, and whether Bolo stands the test of time. A disk image for Bolo as well as the book Synergistic Software: The Early Games are available from Call-A.P.P.L.E..

Beyond the Scanlines covers a variety of retrocomputing platforms, such as the Commodore 64 and MSX. The playlist of Apple II videos includes other games such as Star Maze and Alien Downpour. Production of these and other videos is supported by Patreon.
