Version 3.0b3 of the Marinetti TCP/IP stack has been released. To install it, you need to first have an installation of Marinetti 3.0b1, then unpack the updated TCP/IP extension on top of that.
Eric “Sheppy” Shepherd has released the new Mac OS X version of Sweet16. While not as fully-featured as Bernie ][ The Rescue, this new Universal Binary emulator is a good step forward, running natively under Mac OS X.
Being checkin day, there wasn’t a lot of structure to Tuesday, other than the run out to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. Yum. Still, there was a lot going on, as most attendees got moved into their rooms, with the exception of a few stragglers that haven’t arrived yet.This is my first year at KFest since the switch to Rockhurst University, and I have to say that for the most part, it’s a change for the better. I do miss the loop formation of the rooms, rather than the straight-shot line we have here, but otherwise everything seems nicer.
With one exception: at the moment, our network access is severely limited. Only ports 110 (POP), 80 (HTTP), and 443 (HTTPS) are open. Which means no iChat (although we did realize finally we can tell iChat to use port 80), no telnet, no FTP, etc. That’s really, really painful.
We’ll be talking to them this morning to see if they can ease up on us some. Here’s hoping…

The Princeton Apple II Users Group meets tonight, Friday, July 14, at 7:30 PM in Dave Ciotti’s basement. The meeting will focus on maintenance issues for Mac OS X, but, as always, Apple II users are welcomed!
The second annual Vintage Computer Festival Midwest is this Saturday (July 15, 2006). This one-day event takes place from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The Apple II Programming Contest, sponsored by the Apple Pugestsound Program Library Exchange begins today. If you plan to participate in the contest, be sure to visit the web page and enter — all participants must inform A.P.P.L.E. of their participation by September 30th. All entries must be submitted by January 1, 2007.There will be three judges: Eric Shepherd (Syndicomm), John Woodall (Vintage Micros), and a third special judge to be announced later.
All entries will be judged for originality, usefulness, completeness, and the overall “coolness” factor as determined by the judges.
