WANT!

AppleIIGSMarc posted to comp.sys.apple2 about a game he’s working on. Looks good!
Hey everyone, I just wanted to share with you a small preview of a game I’ve been working on. It’s a lo-res, vertically scrolling shooter that will run on any 48k Apple II. Yes, the graphics are extremely blocky and a bit ugly, but I thought it’d be a fun way to learn 6502 assembly on the Apple II. It’s not quite ready for release, but when it’s done I’ll make it available to anyone interested.
Oh, and if you watch the video, I recommend keeping the size small as it’s easier on the eyes. I know this isn’t Game of the Year material, so please be kind! :)

Poof! The GEnie is out of the bottle in time for KansasFest 2016 as Mac GUI Vault now holds the Apple II GEnie and Delphi software and RoundTable archives. Both of these online services were central to the Apple II world and were used by thousands of Apple II subscribers in the 1980s and 90s.
Visit the GEnie page to start browsing
The GEnie discussion RoundTables, A2 and A2Pro, are now online. Reading these archives gives one a more complete view of the Apple II world of the 1990s and early 2000s, and forms an interesting parallel to the discussions in the Usenet newsgroups.
Furthermore, the software libraries of GEnie and Delphi are also online at Mac GUI Vault and come complete with their original text descriptions and comments.
Just in time for the American 4th of July (Independence Day) Holiday, Jesse Blue of NinjaForce has released KABOOM! v1.03. KABOOM! was recently updated to support the 4play Joystick Card by Alex Lukacz and the 4soniq 4-Channel Stereo Card by Jon Christopher Co and John Valdezco.
Javier Rivera has opened a store to offer fashion-conscious Apple II enthusiasts an array of Apple II-themed t-shirts (and coffee mugs). Check them out at the Apple II FAQ Store”.

It’s mid-2016 and a new Apple II game has been published called GENIUS, Ep.1 “Into the Toy Warehouses” by Daniele Liverani. Billed as a strategic, fast-action high-res arcade game, you must help GENIUS save an imprisoned prince by tackling 80 levels of obstacles, puzzles and enemies.
The first copy of the game is up for auction on eBay.
GENIUS requires at least an Apple II Plus with 48KB RAM. Mockingboard support (via slot 4) is also supported.
Read all about how GENIUS went from concept to software in a ziplock baggie HERE.
The recently announced (and demonstrated) 4soniq 4-channel sound card from Manila Gear is now available for pre-order at the introductory price of $99 (regularly $119).
Product Description
The 4soniq gives you four separate channels of sound for your Apple IIgs, instead of the usual one.
Each of the 32 oscillators available in the Apple IIgs’ Ensoniq Digital Oscillator Chip (DOC) can be assigned to play on any one of 8 output channels. One 4soniq card unlocks 4 of those channels. Pair it with a second 4soniq card to unlock all 8!
To enjoy four channel sound with the 4soniq, you will need four powered speakers (e.g. two sets of 2.1 computer speakers setup up as Front Left, Front Right, Back Left and Back Right), and the appropriate software.
Four channel sound is now supported in Ninjaforce’s Kaboom! and has been tested successfully on modified versions of Ninjaforce’s NinjaTracker * and Sheppyware’s AmperSound GS.
For software that does not support four channel sound yet, the 4soniq functions equally well as a two channel stereo card.
Features:
- 4 Channel Output (via 2x 3.5mm stereo jacks)
- Single Channel Input (via 1x 3.5mm mono jack)
- Ability to pair with another 4soniq to get 8 Channel Output **
- Ability to power externally for slotless operation ***
What’s In The Box:
- 1x 4soniq
- 1x 4soniq-to-J-25 Connector Cable
- 1x Backplate and Cable Assembly
* Requires appropriately modded .SSM sound files
** Requires a 4soniq-to-4soniq connector cable, sold separately
*** May require longer cables, +5/-5VDC power supply sold separately
