Washington Apple Pi user group downsizing inventory

WAP is having to downsize its inventory to reduce the amount of storage space needed. If you’d like to rescue some of this stuff before it goes into a dumpster, read on.I went through the boxes tonight and it is literally quite a
haul–there are about forty (40) copier-paper boxes of Apple II
software, hardware and manuals.

Many of the software titles and hardware cards are with the manuals in
the original box. Several copier-paper boxes are full of Apple II
cards including Super Serial Cards, parallel printer cards (Orange
Micro and others), sound cards (Echo), mouse cards and memory cards as
well as some SCSI and TransWarp cards. There were also some unsual
hardware items, like a kit with a card and interface board to allow an
Apple II to interface to general hardware devices like servos. I
recommend going tomorrow (Thursday) for best selection because the SCSI
and TransWarp cards will go fast.

The storage area will be open for access tomorrow, Thursday, from
around noon until 6:00 PM and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM
until we’re done loading boxes of stuff for transport to the recycling
center. Feel free to call the office (301-984-0300) and confirm that
WAP is definitely open before driving there if you wish.

New way of listing deals and auctions now in effect.

Starting this month, I’m going to change how I list the deals and auctions in this section. To cut down on fluff and wasted space (and maybe because I’m in an organizing mood), I’ve determined a change is necessary in how I list auctions. Auctions for a given month will be listed in the body text instead of the intro and they’ll be sorted by the month and time they end. The intro may mention some highlights but nothing more. For example, this month will be Seen on eBay, September 2004.

Specials, vendor deals of interest and other sources will still get their own stories..

Apple II Pre-Production Prototype #111

This will probably sell for (relatively speaking) big bucks, but depending on how much you love the Apple II platform, it could be yours – a TRULY RARE piece of early Apple II history.

08/03 UPDATE: The auction ended with a final bid of $6099.00 but with the seller’s unknown reserve price not met. This has truly been an interesting auction to watch and an opportunity for lively discussion in Syndicomm’s Apple II Forum RTC. Since the auction began, our resident experts have been going over the pictures, comparing notes. The concensus opinion is that this unit is indeed a valuable specimen of Apple II history but that it’s not really an actual prototype. It would be better classified strictly as an early production unit. To verify this opinion, Tony Diaz, who owns several prototypes of various Apple and third-party projects in his personal collection compared the auction unit with his own handmade prototypes. Still, we consider it a HIGHLY desirable and collectible unit! Hopefully it will be relisted soon..
