It started with a phone call from Tony Diaz to inform me that the server was down. “Great” I thought, “…another DSL outage, or program crash. My server has been up for months, so it probably just needs a reset”. That’s what I was telling myself as I headed downstairs to my home office. My […]
Back when the original A2Central site was operated by Eric “Sheppy” Shepherd, and somewhat affiliated with Syndicomm, A2Central had a Cafepress store to sell A2Central branded merchandise. Since the changeover to me (Sean Fahey), nothing has been done with it… until now. Effective today and for as long as I operate A2Central, I’m pledging ALLÂ net […]
Beginning February 2nd, Andrew Roughan will be hosting Downunder Chat for our fellow Apple II users in Australia, New Zealand and other regions “downunder” on Fridays, 9pm-11pm Australian Eastern Summer Time. Sean Fahey, operator of the popular A2Central.com Apple II portal, announced today that development efforts are underway to make significant additions to the services offered.
Since the upcoming change in operation to A2Central was announced, I’ve received dozens of e-mails from well-wishers (thanks!) and questions, recommendations, concerns, general comments (thanks for all those) and one anonymous death threat (uh, no thanks?). So, it’s time for a FAQ to answer as many of the redundant questions as I can (or I’m allowed to at this time).
Syndicomm announced this morning that over the next few weeks, management of A2Central.com, the popular Apple II portal web site, will be transferred to Sean Fahey. Initially, A2Central.com will continue to be running on Syndicomm’s system, but it will likely be relocated at some point in the future to complete the separation.
Syndicomm’s server upgrade is mostly finished now. FTP access for paying customers has been restored, along with essentially all other services. A few small issues remain to be polished off, but most users shouldn’t notice them.
For the past few days, we’ve been engaged in a move to a new server, which will offer a vastly faster download speed for downloading content from our site. Most services are available once again, but a few (including FTP access, for paid Syndicomm Online members of our A2 forum) are not yet operational again. They should be back up and running soon. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we’re also sure you’ll love the new, faster, A2Central.com!
