At long last, the KFest committee has released details on registering for KFest 2002. KFest will be held from July 23 to July 28 in Kansas City, Missouri. Due to price increases by Avila College, KFest rates are slightly higher this year: A double room , booked before May 15, is $265; a single room before May 15 is $330. Syndicomm today announced the purchase of Apple II GS/OS from Apple Computer, Inc., for an undisclosed sum. Steven P. Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer, said, “We’re pleased to be able to provide this last show of support for our long-loyal Apple II users.” Syndicomm owner Eric Shepherd added, “This is a very exciting time. Finally we in the Apple II community can take control of our own destiny.” Syndicomm has not announced its plans for the future of GS/OS, but Shepherd is suggesting that an open source model would not be out of the question given the terms of the agreement with Apple..
