BBS documentary in the works

Jason Scott is nearing completion on his 3-DVD documentary covering the history of the Bulletin Board System. He has conducted 200 interviews with many of the movers and shakers of the BBS scene, and it’s looking like the historical value of the project will be high. Be sure to check out the “Heroes” trailer. No doubt the Apple II will be mentioned (one such example is the RIPCO BBS, founded by Dr. Ripco in 1983 and run on an Apple II).

The site also contains a list of no less than 38 BBS programs released for the Apple II, with downloads! There is even mention of Litfal, an Apple IIGS BBS (perhaps the only IIGS specific BBS program). .

TheirIP.NDA 1.0b2, then 1.0b3 released

In a classic case of staying up too late coding, TheirIP.NDA 1.0b2 was released with a significant bug that prevented the resolving of domain names; to compensate, programmer Ryan Suenaga stayed up later and completed TheirIP.NDA 1.0b3, which fixes that bug. It can be downloaded at: http://lamp.a2central.com/ryans_software/TheirIP.NDA/TheirIP1b3.BXY. The new version also fixes a bug related to drawing controls in the window..

New way of listing deals and auctions now in effect.

Starting this month, I’m going to change how I list the deals and auctions in this section. To cut down on fluff and wasted space (and maybe because I’m in an organizing mood), I’ve determined a change is necessary in how I list auctions. Auctions for a given month will be listed in the body text instead of the intro and they’ll be sorted by the month and time they end. The intro may mention some highlights but nothing more. For example, this month will be Seen on eBay, September 2004.

Specials, vendor deals of interest and other sources will still get their own stories..
