The April 4 issue of the email-based Computer Collector Newsletter contains a short interview with Eric Rothfus. He reports that he has added Apple II floppy drive support (through emulation) to his hardware SVD device. He expects to update his SVD website with the new info soon.Eric writes:
“Despite the lack of web site updates, the SVD is progressing nicely. I have just released Apple ][ support. With it, you can now use the SVD to emulate an Apple ][ floppy drive, booting and running your favorite operating systems and games from Internet images on your physical Apple ][. (It’s funny that I find it necessary to say
‘physical’, but with the popularity of software emulators it’s necessary – ER.) It supports the sector-based Apple image formats as well as NIB, which is the method used for many copy-protected
games. I’ve spent many hours recently playing ‘Alien Rain,’ one of my long-lost favorites on the Apple.”
