Emmanuel Castello has released v1.0 of PONG RELOADED, an 8-bit game for the Apple II.

Similar to Ralph Baer’s and Atari’s classic versions, PONG RELOADED challenges two players (or one player and the computer, with three difficulty settings) to bounce a ball off their paddles and past the opponent’s. Whoever gets five points first wins the round.

Each level of PONG RELOADED features different background images and gameplay features, such as a central third paddle that operates independently of the two players.

The game comes on a DOS 3.3 disk and can be played from either DOS 3.3 or ProDOS (though the game’s background graphics depend on the original DOS 3.3 format). Supported controls include joysticks, paddles, and keyboard (using the letters E and D to move up and down, respectively). Players using an Apple IIGS or an emulator should ensure their system’s speed is set to 1 MHz and that the Caps Lock key is on.
