Following through on his promise of a 2023 release, Ian Brumby has published v1.0 of Crossrunner, a cycle-accurate Apple IIGS emulator (as opposed to emulating at the instruction level, like most other IIGS emulators do). A 47-page PDF manual is also available.

Crossrunner has many features aimed at developers, including support for 65C816, 65C02 or 6502 assembly language using ORCA/MMerlin 32, and Golden Gate, as well as source-level debugging. The emulator supports dsk, po, do, nib, 2MG, HDV, and Woz disk image formats, and disks can be downloaded directly from the Internet Archive.

You can download the 37-megabyte Crossruner.msi Windows file from the emulator’s official website. A Linux port is currently in beta testing, with a release anticipated in 2024; a Mac version will also enter beta testing in 2024. (The Windows version of Crossrunner does not work under WINE or Crossover for Mac.)

The emulator’s code is hosted in a private GitHub repo, but a separate, public repo is available for reporting bugs and other issues. Donations via Ko-Fi are also accepted.
