Tetris, the seminal puzzle game created by Alexey Pajitnov, will soon have its own interactive documentary from Atari subsidiary Digital Eclipse. Tetris Forever is the latest in the Gold Master series, which debuted last year with The Making of Karateka.

Tetris Forever features a timeline of over forty years of Tetris history, complete with old and new interviews, featurettes, documents, and other artifacts. It also has more than fifteen different playable versions of Tetris spanning 1984 to 1998, including Spectrum Holobyte’s 1988 version for the Apple IIGS.

A “Tetris Time Warp” feature will allow up to four players to compete simultaneously in diverse eras of the classic puzzle game.

The game releases on November 12 for US$34.99 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and Windows via Steam and GOG. Many versions can be preordered for 15% off prior to Tuesday’s release. As with all other modern Digital Eclipse releases, no Mac version is available.

Tetris also enjoyed a titular movie last year, dramatizing the game’s creation and proliferation outside its native USSR. My review of that film can be found on Gamebits.
