Published from 1979 through 1994, Compute! was a multiplatform computer magazine covering Atari, Apple II, Commodore, Texas Instruments, Timex/Sinclair, and many other early personal computers.

Virtual ][ for Mac OS X updated to version 5.3
Gerard Putter has updated his excellent 8-bit Apple II emulator, Virtual ][ to version 5.3. The new version is now scriptable using AppleScript, and includes a number of sample scripts that demonstrate features of the software. In addition, there’s a new menu command to safe a screenshot of the emulated Apple II in TIFF format.
Universal Binary Sweet16 coming to Mac OS X!

A.P.P.L.E. announces Apple II programming contest
A.P.P.L.E. has launched its “2006 Apple II Programming Contest.” The contest, which runs from July 1, 2006 until January 1, 2007, is for original programs that run on the Apple //e or Apple IIgs. The first prize is a CompactFlash for Apple II card and $100 in cash. For details, read this PDF.
